Uganda’s tourism and hospitality sector is a key driver of economic growth and employment but faces a skills gap that affects service quality and global competitiveness. To address this, the government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, has launched the National Apprenticeship Programme.
Aligned with national frameworks, the program equips unemployed graduates with practical, on-the-job skills across the tourism value chain, enhancing employability, strengthening the sector, and empowering local communities, while making valuable contributions to Uganda’s tourism sector.
