5 Days Uganda Gorilla & wildlife safari:

The Gorilla and wildlife safari combines both mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and game viewing in the lush savanna grassland of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half of the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas. Located in the Southwestern side of the country, this 331sq.km gorilla safari park is home to over 400 mountain gorillas, 350 bird species, 310 butterfly species, and several other species of primates including chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys.

Queen Elizabeth National Park – second largest in Uganda, is located in Western Uganda. It is home to a huge profusion of savanna dwellers including the tree climbing lions of Ishasha Plains, African bush elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, warthogs, antelopes, an estimate of 620 birds on a game drive along Kasenyi Plains, as well as crocodiles & hippos while on a boat cruise through the scenic Kazinga channel.

BRIEF ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrive Entebbe
Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park / Afternoon Boat ride on Kazinga Channel
Day 3: Morning game drive through Ishasha sector / Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience / Gorilla Habituation Experience / Optional: Batwa visit – Bwindi National Park
Day 5: Departure


DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrive Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe Airport. Meet and greet by your driver/Guide. Transfer to your Hotel in Entebbe – BB (+/-15 minutes)

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park / Boat ride
Early morning pick up and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (+/- 7hrs.) Have a stop over at the Equator before arriving the park.

Later, enjoy on a boat trip along Kazinga Channel that links Lake Edward and Lake George. The ride gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows and crocodiles bask on the shores. The channel is also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others.
After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to Lodge.(FB)

Day 3: Game drive / Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Early breakfast, take a morning game drive along the Kasenyi tracks with opportunity to view Lions, Cape Buffalos, elephants, warthogs, waterbuck, spotted hyenas, man goose, Antelopes etc. Then, drive through Ishasha sector, famed for tree climbing lions. After a game drive, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Home of the Endangered mountain Gorillas. Check in at your lodge.(FB)

Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience OR Gorilla Habituation Experience  / Optional: Batwa visit
After breakfast, report to the park headquarters for briefing and then depart for your Gorilla trekking experience OR Habituation experience

*GORILLA TREKKING:
The gorilla trek can take anything from few minutes to several hours depending on where they nested the previous night. Gorillas are amazing creatures, with so much energy yet gentle therefore commonly known as the gentle giants of Bwindi. Once you locate the gorillas with help of your guide and trackers, you are allowed to stay with them for only one hour – take pictures and learn more about their habits.
Gorilla Trekking is unpredictable, and physical fitness is required for this adventure.
After trekking, return to the lodge.(FB)

*GORILLA HABITUATION EXPERIENCE:
The experience ensures you take a more active role in the protection and understanding of these gentle giants, as you join rangers  and conservationists in the habituation process. This process gives insight into the lives of the Gorillas, & helps you understand Gorilla behaviors & social dynamics. After finding them, spend 4hrs with the gorillas. – This is a full day Experience and physical fitness is needed.
Return to your lodge (FB)

*Optional: Batwa visit:
If time allows, take an evening walk to the Batwa community to enjoy cultural & music performances as well as ancient culture demonstrations.

Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to your next destination / departure. (Breakfast only)
– Drive time to Entebbe Uganda (+/- 9-11hrs)
– Drive time to Kigali Rwanda (+/- 4hrs)
– Flight time to Entebbe Uganda (09:10 – 11:25) – Timings are subject to change.
