UGANDA SET TO HOST 6TH BI – ANNUAL PRIVATE SECTOR CEO RETREAT:

Uganda is set to Host 6th Bi-Annual Private Sector CEO Retreat, Highlighting Tourism’s Role in Economic Growth. Under the theme “Transforming Uganda into a Preferred Tourism Destination,” the retreat, running from September 9-11, 2025, in Fort Portal, will be hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and the Presidential CEO Forum, and will aim at boosting infrastructure, conservation, digitalization, and marketing.

Tourism contributed 6.6% to GDP in 2024, with over USD 1.2 billion in earnings and 800,000 jobs. Visitor numbers reached 1.37 million, with domestic tourism up 15.7%. A stakeholder engagement on August 21 will set the stage. Minister Tom Butime emphasized aligning efforts with Uganda’s vision to become Africa’s top sustainable tourism destination. The event will focus on infrastructure, heritage protection, technology, and competitiveness, inviting industry players and media to promote Uganda’s tourism potential.
