The Bwindi-Sarambwe mountain gorilla and chimpanzee census 2025 has officially launched at ITFC in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda, by UWA Executive Director, Dr. James Musinguzi.
This is the 6th gorilla census, conducted every five years, with the last in 2018 recording 459 gorillas.
With Key partners, including RDB, Gorilla Doctors, WWF Uganda, and others, Over 60 trained personnel, mainly from UWA, will carry out the survey using nest counts and genetic analysis, with phases ending in June and September.
