Free public Wi-Fi was launched in Kikorongo in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kasese District, with the initiative by NITA-U, UWA, and UTB aimed at enhancing visitor experience and promoting digital connectivity.
Currently available at three strategic sites along the Kasese-Fort Portal Road: the Kikorongo Equator, Kasese Main Street, and the Stanley, Margherita and Rwenzori Roads, the permanent solar-powered Wi-Fi service aims to boost visitor experiences, boost tourism, community access, enable better live coverage of events, and increase community access to online services.
By integrating digital infrastructure into tourism, sports, and community activities, Uganda is enhancing visitor engagement while empowering local communities and conservation efforts, with greater opportunities in the digital economy.
