On April 10, 2025, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, met with Uganda’s Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, Tom Butime, in Cairo to discuss enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers explored joint initiatives, including developing tourist packages that highlight both Egypt’s historical sites and Uganda’s eco-tourism offerings. Fathy shared Egypt’s training programs for tourism professionals and expressed a desire to collaborate with Uganda in this area.
Butime invited Fathy to visit Uganda and participate in the upcoming “Africa Expo” to explore further partnership opportunities. They also discussed expanding direct flight routes to facilitate increased tourism traffic. The meeting underscored the strong historical ties and mutual aspirations to promote cultural heritage and tourism.
