PASSENGER TRAFFIC RISE @ ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

International passenger traffic at Entebbe International Airport is growing, driven by international conferences, Uganda Airlines’ route expansions, tourism promotion, and the launch of new flights, and new airlines entering the market, according to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

In March 2025, the airport handled 178,383 passengers, comprising 83,661 arrivals and 94,722 departures, averaging 5,754 passengers per day. This represents an increase of 6,393 passengers from March 2024, which had 171,990 passengers.

Despite a February dip, March saw a rise due to events and new entrants like Flynas. Uganda Airlines launch of direct London flights is also expected to boost tourism and trade. Cargo volumes also rose, with exports outpacing imports, supporting foreign exchange earnings. The airport handled a total of 5,852 metric tonnes, with imports of 1,965 metric tonnes and exports of 3,887 metric tonnes, indicating a favorable trade balance that boosts foreign exchange earnings. Uganda continues to expand international air agreements and plans to double Uganda Airlines’ fleet within five years.
