The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities conducted a two-day training workshop in Jinja City to improve health, safety, and service standards among street food vendors. The initiative aims to strengthen this important segment of the tourism value chain and protect Jinja’s reputation as a leading tourist destination.
Speaking at the workshop, Principal Tourism Officer Harriet Kiiza emphasized the city’s growing tourism profile and the importance of maintaining high hospitality standards, especially during major events like the Nyege Nyege Festival. The training covered food safety, hygiene, environmental sanitation, and ethical conduct, while also highlighting government-supported skills development opportunities.
The program marks a key step in enhancing service quality and safeguarding Uganda’s tourism standards at the grassroots level.
