Arua City is preparing to host the 2025 World Tourism Day celebrations on September 27, focused on “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The event aims to highlight tourism’s role in inclusive development and environmental resilience. During a planning meeting, officials emphasized the opportunity to position Arua as a tourism and investment hub, boosting visibility and regional growth.
With over 4,000 guests expected, hotels and service providers are upgrading facilities and preparing tailored packages. Local leaders highlighted the potential for Arua’s rich culture, natural attractions like Ajai Wildlife Reserve, and its strategic location to transform it into a key sustainable tourism destination in northern Uganda. The event is seen as a milestone for tourism-led development across the region.
