2.6KM TOURISM ROAD LAUNCHED TO SIPI FALLS.

Uganda Tourism Board, Kapchorwa District, and Kapchorwa Town Council inaugurated a new 2.6 km gravel road to Sipi Falls.

Worth 160 million shillings, the road improves access to Sipi Falls, boosting tourism and local livelihoods through better transport and trade opportunities, with residents leveraging the road for agriculture and selling of artisanal crafts.

The scenic waterfalls, located in Mount Elgon’s foothills, attract 10-20% of Uganda’s tourists. The improved road will enhance visitor experience, support local economy—especially coffee farmers—and promote Uganda’s broader tourism strategy. The event featured officials cutting the ribbon amid scenic views, emphasizing sustainable growth and cultural engagement. Visitors can now enjoy hiking, abseiling, and cultural tours more easily.
