DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1: Drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport. Meet and greet by your safari Guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri area. Enjoy the beauty of the countryside & rolling hills en-route.
Transfer to your lodge (LD)
Day 2: Gorilla trekking / Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village visit
Today, report to Kinigi Visitor Centre for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Then depart for your trekking experience in search of the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking involves hiking through the rugged terrain, thick forest, and maneuvering muddy trails. This can be strenuous therefore physical fitness is required.
After you locate the gorillas, spend 1 hour with these amazing rare apes.
Later, visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a cultural experience – traditional beer brewing lessons, dancing and drumming lessons, basket weaving demonstrations, visit to the traditional healer and have traditional meal preparation lessons. Enjoy the unique cultural dances, music performances & cultural exhibitions.
After, return to your lodge (FB)
Day 3: Dian Fossey hike
Today, visit the Dian Fossey tomb site at Karisoke Research Centre, between Karisimbi and Bisoke. the Tomb site is located at an altitude of about 3000m above sea level, and during your hike, view wildlife, primates and birds along the way.
On arrival at the tomb site, you will have incredible insight on gorilla conservation story of Dian Fossey. She was one of the greatest conservationists, primatologists who carried out research on gorillas for 18 years but unfortunately, she was mysteriously murdered in 1985 and buried next to Digit her lovely silverback gorilla. Also visit the Karisoke research center as well as living quarters.

Day 4:Transfer back to Kigali / Departure
Transfer back to Kigali and take a city tour – visiting the Genocide Memorial Center and theCraft Village before transferring to your hotel / residence / Airport for your departure flight.
