Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After breakfast, meet your gorilla safari guide. He will brief you on what your gorilla trip covers and then drive from your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe via Masaka-Mbarara to Kisoro, about 8-9 hours’ drive depending on the route and speed of the driver.

En-route, a stopover will be made at Uganda Equator crossing for photography and proceed to Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. Proceed thereafter to Kisoro-Southwestern Uganda while enjoying the scenic view of terraced hills. Arrive at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park early to check at the gorilla safari lodge you booked to relax, dine and for overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Wake up early and have a hefty breakfast. After, meet the driver ready for transfer to Ntebeko Visitor Centre to be briefed on the dos and don’ts for gorilla trekking at 7:00am. This also includes assigning you a gorilla family (note only Nyakagyezi group is set for gorilla safaris in this park) and only 8 trekkers will be allowed to go to explore this group.

With your packed lunch and bottled water, begin your gorilla trekking adventure with park ranger guide at 8:00am. This is entirely on-foot work experience and depending on location of gorillas, nature of habitat and your hiking speed, you will spend between 2 and 6 hours trekking mountain gorillas. Once you locate them, you have only 1 hour of magical encounter and also take photos. Retreat thereafter to chill at the lodge, dine and spend a night.

Day 3: Return to Kampala

After your early morning cup of coffee or tea, check out of your gorilla safari lodge. You will be driven back to Kampala with a stopover at Mbarara for lunch. At Equator, you will have another exciting moment of relaxation and if time allows, make a stopover at Mpambire Drum Makers then proceed to Kampala/Entebbe.
