3 days Lake Mburo Tour, The 3 days Lake Mburo Tour is a short wildlife viewing tour leading to Uganda’s smallest savannah National Park, situated within the western side of the country. The small size of the National Park doesn’t mean you should underestimate its potential because this beauty of a National Park is a home to over 75 species of mammals as well as over 350 species of birds besides its spectacular landscape among others. The numerous Lakes, wetlands, savannah grasslands, rocky landscapes and forest gallery shelter magnificent attractions not seen in other larger savannah National Parks.

Day 1: Drive from Kampala, visit Igongo Cultural Center and evening game drive

After breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our company driver shall meet and brief you on the 3 days Lake Mburo Tour you are about to undertake. Drive through the streets of Kampala towards Masaka road for the 30 minutes’ Equator experience and to Lyantonde, Sanga Towns in a 3-4 hours’ journey and continue to Igongo Cultural Center for a moment of cultural exploration. While here, you will learn about the exciting culture of the Banyankole, the dominant tribe in Kiruhura district where the Park is found and also see some of the interesting artifacts with their beautiful meanings. It is here that you will enjoy lunch and drive to the Park with views of zebras, warthogs, impalas, Topis and buffaloes arriving in the late afternoon. Check-in at the Lodge, freshen-up and relax while waiting for the evening game drive.

When it comes to time for the evening game drive, expect sights of the leopards, spotted hyenas, bush babies, pottos, and the Verreaux’s eagles among others. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Travel time from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park: 3-4 hours.

Day 2: Guided nature walk and afternoon boat cruise

Enjoy your breakfast and head for a guided nature walk through some of the Park’s wildlife hot spots where herds of buffaloes, common elands, Defassa waterbucks, zebras, impalas, Topis, bushbucks, warthogs, Hippos and others in addition to the bird species sill be spotted. After the 3-4 hours; walk, return to the Lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon you shall have a boat cruise along Lake Mburo where rich views of the pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, pelicans, malachite kingfishers, rare chances of the shoebill storks, and the grey crowned cranes in addition to the hippos and Nile crocodiles should be your expectation. This boat cruise will also lead to the fishing village to check some of the outstanding species of fish caught and how they are preserved. Retire to the Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Wake up to an early morning breakfast and game drive through some of the Park’s endowed game tracks to a wider view of the wildlife especially the Rothschild giraffes that occupy only certain areas, warthogs, Topis, Impalas, elands, Oribis, Defassa waterbucks and even the Bohor reedbucks among others. Return to the Lodge for an early lunch and return to Kampala.
